Profile & Security
Your Profile is where you manage your personal information and keep your account secure — updating your details, changing your password and setting up two-step verification.
Your details
The profile view shows your name, email, account status, the roles you hold across workspaces, and whether two-step verification is on. You can update your first name, last name and email inline — just edit the field and save. Changing your email may require re-verification, depending on your organisation’s settings.
Changing your password
For extra security, password changes are confirmed with a one-time code:
- Open Change password and enter your current password, then your new password twice.
- Request a code — it’s sent by your two-step method, or by email if you haven’t set one up.
- Enter the code to confirm. Your new password takes effect and you stay signed in.
Two-step verification
Two-step verification adds a second check when you sign in. Two methods are supported:
| Method | How it works |
|---|---|
| Authenticator app | A six-digit code from an app such as Google Authenticator, Authy or Microsoft Authenticator |
| Email code | A one-time code sent to your email |
To set up an authenticator app: choose it as your method, scan the QR code Governy shows with your app, then enter the code from the app to confirm.
To set up email codes: choose email, request a code, and enter it to confirm.
When you turn on two-step verification, Governy gives you a set of backup codes. Save them somewhere safe — they let you get in if you ever lose access to your app or email. Each code works once. To turn two-step verification off, confirm with your current password.
Keeping your account safe
- Store your backup codes securely, such as in a password manager.
- If you lose both your backup codes and your verification device, contact your administrator to reset your account.
